Golden Eagles' Season Ends In First Round of NCAA Regional

Hoboken, N.J. | The St. Joseph's University, New York (L.I.) men's volleyball team saw its season come to an end as it fell to MIT in a straight-set 0-3 sweep in the NCAA Division III Tournament play-in match on Thursday afternoon.

Top Performers:
-Chris Sarnicola led the Golden Eagles attack with 7 kills while hitting .280, adding two blocks and eight digs.
-AJ Esposito and Shaun Mischler each contributed five kills; Esposito added one block while Mischler recorded five digs.
-Setter Dominic Ruggiero dished out 21 assists and added eight digs.
-Declan Kerns posted three kills, one block, and five digs.
-Libero Connor Ruais paced the back row with four digs.

How it Happened:
-MIT set the tone early in the opening set with strong serving and efficient attacking. The Engineers built a steady lead and closed out the frame 25-17 behind a balanced attack and aggressive service pressure.
-Set two remained competitive through the early and middle portions, but MIT pulled away late with timely kills and blocking. The Engineers secured a 25-19 victory to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
-In the third set, St. Joseph's showed resilience and kept the score close deep into the frame. However, MIT's attacking efficiency and service aces proved too much, as the Engineers sealed the 25-22 win and the match.

Notes:
-MIT hit a strong .333 as a team with 56 kills and nine service aces, while holding St. Joseph's (L.I.) to a .219 attacking percentage with no service aces.
-The Golden Eagles recorded 32 digs and four team blocks in the match.
-St. Joseph's concluded its historic season with a fifth straight Skyline Conference regular-season title and conference championship.
