USMMA Earns Top Spot in 2025 Skyline Women’s Volleyball Preseason Poll

NEW YORK | The battle for the Skyline Conference women’s volleyball crown is expected to be tight once again in 2025, as the United States Merchant Marine Academy has been tabbed the preseason favorite. The Mariners edged defending champion Manhattanville University for the top spot.


USMMA collected 111 points and two first-place votes to secure the top position, while Manhattanville University followed closely with 109 points and seven first-place tallies. St. Joseph’s-Long Island was third with 95 points and one first-place vote, and Farmingdale State (91 points) and Sarah Lawrence (81 points, one first-place vote) rounded out the top five in a crowded upper tier of the standings.


Mount Saint Mary checked in sixth with 69 points, followed by Maritime (58 points, one first-place vote) in seventh. St. Joseph’s-Brooklyn (48 points), Purchase (47 points), and Mount Saint Vincent (43 points) occupied the middle of the standings, while Old Westbury (28 points) and Yeshiva (12 points) rounded out the poll.

The 2025 Skyline Conference Women’s Volleyball Championship is set to begin with first round action on Tuesday, November 11, followed by the semifinal round on Thursday, November 13. The championship final will take place on Saturday, November 15 at the highest remaining seed, with the winner earning the league’s automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Women’s Volleyball Championship.
