NEW YORK | The United States Merchant Marine Academy men and Farmingdale State College women captured team titles at the 2026 Skyline Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Sunday at Farmingdale State. Merchant Marine edged the Rams, 258-238, in the men's standings, while Farmingdale topped the women's field with 240 points ahead of Merchant Marine's 217.
Men's Championship
Merchant Marine used its depth across the track and field events to secure the conference crown. Skyline Track Athlete of the Year Luke Zweisler paced the Mariners with victories in both the 800 meters (1:57.99) and 1,500 meters (4:06.74), delivering 20 team points in distance competition.
Co-Field Athlete of the Year Ben Rini of Merchant Marine excelled across the throws, winning the shot put (14.01m / 45'11.75"), discus (36.85m / 120'11"), hammer throw (39.79m / 130'6"), and javelin (40.71m / 133'7") in a dominant all-around performance.
Farmingdale State's Adonias Mercado shared Field Athlete of the Year honors after scoring major points in the throws, highlighted by a first-place finish in the discus at 42.72m (140'2"), while also placing among the leaders in multiple throwing events.
Rookie of the Year Ethan Zacarolli turned in a breakout championship for the Rams, winning the high jump at 1.93m (6'4"), taking first in the 110-meter hurdles (15.50), and adding points in the long jump with a mark of 6.63m (21'9").
Farmingdale head coach Daniela Georgieva was selected Men's Coach of the Year.
Women's Championship
Farmingdale State's balanced lineup powered the Rams to the women's title, highlighted by strength in the sprints, relays, and field events.
Merchant Marine freshman Eleanor Romeo was named both Track Athlete and Rookie of the Year after winning the 800 meters in 2:37.80 and the 1,500 meters in 5:15.51, while also contributing key points in the distance events.
Farmingdale State senior Olivia Finnegan earned Field Athlete of the Year honors with a versatile meet that included victories in the high jump (1.45m / 4'9"), long jump (4.81m / 15'9.5"), and triple jump (10.24m / 33'7.25"), helping the Rams separate in the team race.
Daniela Georgieva was also named Women's Coach of the Year after guiding Farmingdale to the conference championship.
