Palagatshev dominated at the top of the lineup in Purchase’s 6-1 victory over John Jay, earning straight-set wins in both singles and doubles. He secured a 6-0 win at No. 1 doubles before cruising to a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles to lead the Panthers.

Rookie of the Week

Kazuma Kato, Manhattanville
Freshman; Nerima, Tokyo, Japan/Aioi Gakuin


Kato played a key role in Manhattanville’s spring-opening win over UMass Boston, picking up victories at both No. 1 doubles and No. 2 singles. He teamed for a 6-2 doubles win before earning a 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 singles victory to help secure the match.

Honorable Mention

Fredrich Buquel, Merchant Marine - Earned a pair of wins at the top flight in the Mariners’ 6-1 victory over Sarah Lawrence, taking No. 1 doubles 6-2 before rallying for a 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles.

Thomas Jouanneau, Manhattanville - Contributed two wins in Manhattanville’s victory over UMass Boston, earning a 6-2 doubles win at No. 1 before adding a 6-2, 6-3 triumph in top-flight singles.

Josh Zahav, Yeshiva - Recorded victories in both singles and doubles play, securing a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 6 singles and a 7-6 victory at No. 3 doubles in Yeshiva’s matchup with Mount Saint Mary.
