FSC Picked to Upend Manhattanville for 3-Peat in Men's Tennis Preseason Poll

Rivals Top Rankings Again with Coaches Projecting Same Result in 2025

NEW YORK | For the second straight spring, the Skyline Conference’s head men’s tennis coaches envision a championship rematch. And a familiar champion to boot.

Call it déjà vu. The latest preseason coaches poll is calling for two-time defending champion Farmingdale State College to repeat on the courts with Manhattanville University. Last spring, top-seeded FSC captured its sixth Skyline Conference men's tennis crown – and its second in as many seasons – against second-seeded Manhattanville, 5-4 (pictured below). A feat they replicated from a spring prior, of course. That spring, Manhattanville was coming off a title and projected first in the preseason rankings, but FSC went on to win it all.

As for 2024, the Rams became the first team in FSC athletics' NCAA history to end regular-season and conference-championship play undefeated at 17-0, making a case for being one of the greatest individual team seasons of all time, not just in program history, but conference history.

But that was 2024. Only time will tell if the Rams can do it once more, and in as dominant a fashion – and against Manhattanville, no less.

Despite receiving the No. 1 ranking in 2025, FSC is not an unanimous choice in polling results, albeit pretty close, receiving six first-place votes (institutions were not permitted to vote for their own teams) and 48 points as Mount Saint Mary returns for the 2025 campaign. 2024 runner-up Manhattanville garners the other two first-place votes and receives 42 voting points in voting conducted by the eight head coaches.

U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (36) follows in third, with Yeshiva (29) projected fourth as the four likely teams to advance to the postseason.

According to the poll, Purchase (25), St. Joseph’s-Long Island (18), Sarah Lawrence (14) and MSMC (12) will be competing for the final postseason spot, with Purchase the biggest contender of the group. The aforementioned Knights return from a one-year hiatus in the sport. They were 1-6 in conference play in 2023.

Meanwhile, the Rams previously won titles from 2011-13, and 2021 and will be looking for the rare 3-peat this spring. The Valiants won the crown last in 2022 and have followed that up with runner-up showings each of the past two seasons against FSC. They defeated Yeshiva in 2022.

The 2025 Skyline Conference Men's Tennis Championship will crown a champion on Sunday, May 4 following semifinal action on Friday, May 2. The victor of the tourney receives the Skyline's automatic bid to the 2025 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championship.
