NEW YORK | An historic campaign from Manhattanville College last spring propels them to the top of the Skyline Conference Men's Tennis Preseason Coaches Poll in 2023.
The league's eight head men's tennis coaches voted on the latest edition of the rankings, selecting the defending champion Valiants (above) to finish ahead of the pack again this spring.
The history-making 2021-22 Manhattanville men's team won last season's conference championship, punching its ticket to the NCAAs (below), concluding a banner year with an overall record of 13-6, including a pristine 7-0 mark in conference play.
That impression was too good for the coaches to pass up this spring as head coach Alex Sandri's Manhattanville squad earned six out of a possible eight first-place votes, notching 48 voting points in the process to headline the poll.
Farmingdale State College earned two first-place nods and 42 points, while U.S. Merchant Marine Academy registered 35 points to check in in third place.
Last season's championship second-place finisher, Yeshiva University, clocks in fourth in the rankings with 31 points. Purchase College, SUNY takes fifth on the ledger with 22 points.
The 2023 Skyline Conference Men's Tennis Championship will crown a champion on April 29. The victor of the tourney receives the Skyline's automatic bid to the 2023 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championship.
