PURCHASE, N.Y. | Manhattanville University softball captured the 2026 Skyline Conference Softball Championship with a 9-6 victory over Farmingdale State softball on Sunday at Valiants Field, securing its third conference title in the last four years.
Manhattanville (35-8) used a pair of explosive middle innings to seize control of the title game. After Farmingdale State (27-17) struck first with single runs in each of the opening two frames, the Valiants responded with a five-run second inning, highlighted by a grand slam from Alexa Lazur that flipped the momentum.
The Valiants added four more runs in the third, once again powered by Lazur, who launched her second home run of the game to finish with six RBI en route to being named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player.
Farmingdale State mounted a push in the fifth, scoring four runs to cut the deficit to 9-6. Isabella Marchini delivered a two-run double, and Natalie McMichael followed with an RBI single as the Rams attempted to rally.
However, Manhattanville’s pitching staff held firm down the stretch. Tahlia Smith earned the win after tossing 4.2 innings, while Jori Wilkendorf closed the door with 2.1 scoreless innings in relief to secure the championship.
Despite being outhit 6-5, Manhattanville capitalized on key moments and limited mistakes, overcoming early pressure to claim the conference crown.
