WOMEN'S SOCCER WEEKLY AWARDS - SEPTEMBER 8

Offensive Player of the Week

Alyse Rivera, Farmingdale
Senior, Midfield/Forward; Manhattan, N.Y./Eastside Community

Rivera racked up nine points on four goals and an assist during a 1-1-1 week for the Rams (1-0 Skyline), registering points in all three contests. She opened Skyline play on Thursday with her fifth career hat trick—scoring all three goals in the first 12 minutes against Yeshiva, including two just 17 seconds apart, marking the ninth-fastest consecutive goals in NCAA Division III history. The senior followed with an assist on FSC’s lone tally at Drew on Saturday, then capped the week with a goal in Sunday’s 1-1 draw versus Stockton.

Defensive Player of the Week

Sophia Cagnetto, St. Joseph’s - Long Island
Sophomore, Defender; Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem North

Cagnetto logged 103 minutes across two matches, highlighted by a clutch game-winning goal to secure the Golden Eagles’ first victory of the season. The sophomore buried a free kick in the 70th minute to lift St. Joseph’s (L.I.) to a 1-0 win over Stevens, bouncing back from a 2-1 setback to Ramapo earlier in the week.

Rookie of the Week

Paulina Fonfara, Farmingdale
Freshman, Forward/Midfield; Glen Cove, N.Y./Glen Cove

Last week’s Rookie of the Week, Fonfara, registered two goals and one assist in a three-match week for the Rams (1-1-1, 1-0 Skyline). The freshman picked up a goal and assist in limited action Thursday versus Yeshiva, before opening the scoring with her fourth goal for the season on Saturday at Drew.

Honorable Mention

Senior forward, Viktoria Balbin, scored a pair of goals in Sarah Lawrence's home-opener, with a tally in the first three minutes of play before a second-half goal sealed the victory for the Gryphons… Senior keeper Macey Girard capped the week with 10 saves across two matches, becoming just the eighth player in Manhattanville women’s soccer history to reach 250 career saves. She reached the milestone with a seven-save performance on Tuesday against NJCU, then added three more stops in Saturday’s contest at Ramapo.
