WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY WEEKLY AWARDS - SEPTEMBER 15

Runner of the Week

Elizabeth Kurka, St. Joseph’s - L.I.
Sophomore; Islip, N.Y./Islip


Kurka placed 10th overall at the Golden Eagles Invitational, clocking 21:23.1 on the 5,000-meter course. Her performance helped pace the Golden Eagles to a strong team finish on their home course.

Rookie of the Week

Amelia Vitale, Farmingdale
Freshman; Hauppauge, N.Y./Hauppauge


Vitale was the top Division III freshman finisher at the Golden Eagles Invitational, placing 12th overall with a time of 21:44.4 on the 5,000-meter course. Her effort helped Farmingdale State to a strong team showing in the event.

Honorable Mention
Jennifer Oliveros, Manhattanville – Ran a personal-best 28:30.6 in the 6K at the Jasper Fall Invitational, leading the Valiants against a field of Division I and III competition
Flora Parker-Myers, Purchase – Finished 15th overall with a time of 21:58 at the Golden Eagles Invitational, continuing an impressive rookie campaign for the Panthers
