Winter/Spring 2023-24 Skyline Conference Scholar-Athletes of the Year Announced

NEW YORK | The Skyline Conference today announced its Scholar-Athletes of the Year for baseball, men's basketball, women's basketball, men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse, men's outdoor track and field, women's outdoor track and field, softball, men's swimming and diving, women's swimming and diving, men's tennis and men's volleyball.

The Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award is presented in each sport to the first-team All-Skyline performer who carries the highest grade point average (minimum 3.30) for the semester in which the student-athlete competes.

Baseball
Anthony Madigan, Senior, Maritime

Madigan led the league with a school-record 69 hits. He also finished with 52 runs scored and 49 RBI, batting .390 to go along with eight home runs and 13 doubles.   

Men’s Basketball
Tommy Lotito, Grad Student, Manhattanville

Lotito wrapped up his collegiate career averaging 14.6 points and 6.4 rebounds per game en route to all-conference, all-region and consecutive Scholar-Athlete of the Year recognitions.  

Women’s Basketball
Casey Travers, Grad Student, St. Joseph’s-Long Island

Travers started in every game and finished the season among conference leaders with a team-best 391 points, averaging 15.6 points per game. She finished in double-digit points 23 times.

Men's Lacrosse
Parker Reilly, Junior, Maritime

Reilly secured a place on the first team for the second straight year. The program’s all-time leader in goals netted 71. That mark and his 4.11 goals per game were both conference highs.

Women's Lacrosse
Maggie Horan, Senior, Mount Saint Mary

A multiple all-conference selection during her career at MSMC, Horan garnered first team honors in 2024, leading the Knights to the playoffs. She totaled 32 GB and 15 CT this spring.

Men’s Outdoor Track and Field
Christopher Christiano, Senior, Mount Saint Mary

Christiano won the men's 800-meter race with a season-best time and added a third-place finish in the 1500-meters at conference championships. He earned a bronze at ECACs in the 800.

Women's Outdoor Track and Field
Gabrielle Billetz, Freshman, Manhattanville

Billetz excelled in the throwers circle at championships, going on to win the gold with a record-setting 36.63m mark in the discus and earning silver in the shotput with a distance of 9.69m

Softball
Antonia Busa, Sophomore, St. Joseph’s-Long Island

Busa led the team and placed top 15 in conference with a .409 batting average. She finished with 38 hits, 24 runs scored and 19 RBI. She also totaled 23 putouts and 41 assists in the field.

Jenna Giliberti, Senior, Farmingdale State

Giliberti’s 61 hits (No. 54 in DIII) were the second most in FSC history. She batted .439 on the year (No. 82 nationally) with 48 runs and 26 stolen bases, while playing error-free defensively.

Men’s Swimming and Diving

Mayer, the Co-Swimmer of the Year again this winter at conference championships, also repeats as Scholar-Athlete of the Year, after leading the Mariners to another league crown in 2024.

Women’s Swimming and Diving

Monti finished first in the 400-yard individual medley, the 200-yard breaststroke and the 100-yard breaststroke at championships on her way to conference Rookie of the Year honors.

Men’s Tennis

Hourihan appeared in all 15 singles and doubles matches and tallied a 3-2 record in conference at No. 1 singles. He also competed at No. 1 doubles, going 11-4 overall and 7-1 in Skyline action.

Palagatshev takes home the Scholar-Athlete of the Year for a second straight year after going 4-4 at No. 1 singles. In doubles, he was even better, teaming for a 6-3 overall record at No. 1.

Alan Sabovic, Senior, Farmingdale State

Sabovic has been selected all-conference in each of his four years. He went 16-0 in top-flight singles and posted a 14-2 record in doubles competition to lead the Rams to the league title.  
 
Men’s Volleyball
CJ Johnson, Senior, St. Joseph’s-Long Island

Johnson earned Player of the Year honors on the back of one of his most impressive seasons. He appeared in 86 sets across 28 matches and leads the conference with 817 assists for the champs.

JoJo Meyer, Junior, Ramapo

Meyer earned first team after leading Ramapo with 732 assists. He also recorded 25 aces and 160 digs. He eclipsed the 2,000 career assist mark along with 500 career digs in 2024.
