NEW YORK | Playoff participants in all 15 conference sports sponsored and winners of six of the 19 Skyline Conference championships during the 2024-25 academic year, the United States Merchant Marine Academy is the victor of this year's Presidents Cup.
The award measures all-sports excellence in league competition. A school earns points toward the Presidents Cup based upon the conference finish in each sport in which it competes.
The Mariners take home the prestigious honor after Farmingdale State snapped their streak of four straight last season. USMMA had won two in a row and four straight at the time. Kings Point won back-to-back cups in 2018 and 2019 prior to the COVID-19 pandemic (no winners announecd in 2019-20 and 2020-21) and have now won five of the last six conference honors.
Farmingdale State, which won eight team championships, narrowly came in second behind the Mariners. St. Joseph's-Long Island is third. The Golden Eagles won one championship (men's volleyball) of the remaining five not secured by USMMA or FSC.
USMMA finished with a rating percentage of .909 (117.25 out of a possible 129 points). FSC registered an .862 showing and St. Joseph's-LI netted a .691 to round out the top three. Manhattanville (.637) and Mount Saint Mary (.575), who also won one championship, finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
For each sport, the maximum number of points an institution can earn is equal to the number of teams competing in that sport. For sports with regular-season and conference tournament play, a school receives points based upon an average of the regular-season and conference tournament finishes. For sports with only conference championships, the finish in the championship determines the Presidents Cup points. An overall rating is generated for each school which is a percentage of total points earned divided by total possible points for that member school.
