NEW YORK | The Skyline Conference announces its fall Scholar-Athletes of the Year for men’s and women’s cross country, golf, men’s and women’s soccer, women’s tennis and women’s volleyball.
The Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award is presented in each sport to the first-team All-Skyline performer who carries the highest grade point average (minimum 3.30) for the semester in which the student-athlete competes.
Men's Cross Country
Marshall Northman, Senior, Yeshiva
Northman finished seventh overall (out of 98 runners) at the championship, with a time of 28:17.6, to make the first team for the second time in his collegiate career. The Ohio native averaged 5:35.5 per mile over the course of the 8K race.
Women's Cross Country
Gianna Dickson, Sophomore, St. Joseph's-Long Island
Dickson took sixth place (25:43.4) at the conference championship, leading the Golden Eagles to a second-place finish. She capped her season at NCAA Metro Regionals by leading St. Joseph’s-LI with a time of 24:52, finishing in a program-best 41st place.
Golf
Chris Iguchi, Junior, Farmingdale State
Iguchi finished third at the league championship with a two-day score of 149. After the FSC school records of 68 (lowest score) and minus-4 (lowest in relation to par) were tied twice in the fall, Iguchi shattered both marks, shooting a 66 at The Melee at Riverview Country Club in mid October.
Ryan Moran, Senior, Manhattanville
Moran finished fourth overall with a two-round score of 152 (+12), earning his second-straight first team appointment. The senior was able to sink four birdies and improve his score by four strokes on the final day, climbing three spots up the individual leaderboard to take fourth place.
Men's Soccer
Victor Naci, Sophomore, St. Joseph’s-Brooklyn
The striker was named league Offensive Player of the Year. Starting up top in 16 matches, Naci found the back of the net in all but two. Naci's hat trick against Old Westbury broke the program's single-season scoring record. Along with his 22 goals, Naci also led the nation in goals per game (1.44) and points per game (3.66) while placing second with 49 points.
Women's Soccer
Mackenzie Caterina, Senior, Farmingdale State
Caterina split time in her first year as a starter for FSC between center back and defensive midfielder, helping the Rams to post six shutouts in conference action and eight overall. Her first goal of the season late in the semifinals match at Mount Saint Vincent (Nov. 2) on a set-piece situation iced the contest for the Rams.
Lindsey Jolly, Senior, Farmingdale State
Jolly started in 11 of her 15 appearances in the Rams’ net, posting a 1.00 goals-against average and .797 save percentage that ranked second and third in the Skyline, respectively. She was in on seven clean sheets for FSC, with five of the solo variety, including the Nov. 5 championship final at Sarah Lawrence in which her three saves helped keep the game scoreless through 110 minutes of action.
Bridgette Lee, Junior, Sarah Lawrence
Lee allowed just two goals in Skyline play and held both opposing teams scoreless in the conference tournament. She was the conference leader in save percentage, stopping 81.8% of shots on goal throughout the fall. With a sterling 0.63 goals allowed on average, Lee paced the Skyline and helped the Gryphons win the championship
Women's Tennis
Nikita Kordzielewska, Senior, Purchase
Kordzielewska became the first player in Panther history to be named the Skyline Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Year, as she shared the honor with Simi Rao of Sarah Lawrence. Over the season, Nikita tallied a singles record of 8-4 overall and 4-1 in Skyline matchups. She concluded her Purchase career as one of the most successful players in program history.
Women's Volleyball
Alejandra Figueroa, Grad Student, Manhattanville
The graduate student was one of Manhattanville's most consistent attackers, leading the team with 257 kills. Her 3.21 kills per set was good for third in the entire Skyline and marked a new career-high. Figueroa also recorded 214 digs to the tune of 2.68 per set, another personal high, as the Valiants won the conference crown.
