NEW YORK | The Skyline Conference's nine head women's lacrosse coaches have voted on their 2023 preseason coaches poll, naming the United States Merchant Marine Academy as the best of the field.
Head coach Kyle Simensky's Mariners received six possible first-place votes (institutions are not permitted to vote for their own team), and 60 voting points.
The Mariners (pictured above) avenged their loss in the 2021 title game to Farmingdale State College by toppling the Rams 15-2 in 2022 to claim last spring’s Skyline Conference Women’s Lacrosse title and the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Runner-up Farmingdale State checks in at second place with 56 points and two first-place votes while SUNY Maritime College (50) sits in third with the final first-place vote. Manhattanville College (46) and St. Joseph’s University-Long Island (34) round out the top five in the tally.
The six-team 2023 Skyline Conference Women's Lacrosse Championship starts at home sites, with first-round action on May 2 and semifinals action following on May 4. The championship final takes place at the highest remaining seed on May 6, with the champion receiving the Skyline's automatic bid to the 2023 NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse Championship.
