NEW YORK | No. 2 Farmingdale State College and top-seeded United States Merchant Marine Academy punched their tickets to the 2026 Skyline Conference Women’s Lacrosse Championship with semifinal victories on Wednesday.
Farmingdale State edged No. 3 Mount Saint Mary College in a tightly contested 8-7 overtime thriller. The Knights jumped out to a 2-0 lead early and held a 3-2 edge midway through the second quarter, but the Rams responded with a 3-0 run to take their first lead. After Mount Saint Mary rallied with three fourth-quarter goals—including two from Shannon McGowan—to go ahead 7-6, Emily Sohm answered late in regulation to force overtime. Sohm then delivered again in the extra session, scoring the game-winner at 3:01 to complete the comeback.
Sohm finished with two goals, including the equalizer and overtime winner, while Carly Livingston led the Rams with four points (2g, 2a) and a game-high 15 shots. Kailee Coppola also added two goals for Farmingdale, which controlled the draw 12-5. Kasey Senior paced Mount Saint Mary with three goals and an assist, while McGowan added four points (2g, 2a) in the loss.
In the other semifinal, Merchant Marine pulled away for a 19-6 victory over No. 4 St. Joseph's University Long Island at Brooks Stadium. The teams traded blows early, with the score tied 3-3 after the opening quarter, before the Mariners erupted for a 5-0 run in the second to take control.
Merchant Marine continued to build its advantage with four goals in the third and seven more in the fourth. Grace Picozzi led the offensive outburst with seven points (5g, 2a), while Sarah Litz added six points (3g, 3a) and Amber Fields contributed four goals. Nicole Nagengast and Isabelle Perry each scored multiple times as the Mariners totaled 19 goals on 31 shots.
Sabrina Doyle led St. Joseph’s Long Island with three goals, while Taylor Metzler added two and Kaitlyn Ippolito recorded a goal and two assists.
