Burns Named Associate Athletic Director at Mount Saint Mary

Newburgh, NY I Mount Saint Mary College Athletic Director Drew Brown has announced the appointment of Brian Burns to the Associate Athletic Director Position. Burns joins the athletic department after serving as a transfer admission's counselor and the athletic liaison at the Mount since October.
 
Said Brown, "I'm thrilled to have Brian join us full time in his new role. He was already an important part of our team while working with admissions and with his background and knowledge of college athletics, Brian is an excellent fit with our family."
 
Prior to his stint in admissions in Newburgh, Burns was a part of the Sullivan Community College Athletic Department from 2018-2021. In that capacity he built a robust intramural program, trained department personnel and work study students and aided with game day operations.
 
Burns coordinated better than a dozen intramural sports yearly and also ran pop-up stand alone events. In addition, he ran semester long physical fitness programs and provided training for the appropriate personnel.
 
Burns oversaw and scheduled more than 30 work study students and directly planning, setup, execution and breakdown of home athletic events. He also assisted in the maintenance of facilities and produced game day materials for fans.

In his time in admissions at the Mount, Burns recruited potential students to the Mount and aided coaches in the admissions process. He helped with the planning and execution of recruiting events and served as an academic advisor of Intended Nursing Students.

Outside of Athletic Administration, Burns was part of the Baseball coaching staff at Plattsburgh from 2013-2018.
 
Burns, who earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Plattsburgh in 2013 and his Master of Science in Leadership from Plattsburgh in 2017, currently resides in Newburgh.
