Softball Weekly Report - April 25

Player of the Week

Jenna DeFina, St. Joseph’s-Long Island
Senior, OF, Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa

Hit .643 with nine runs and three RBI in 14 at-bats...also walked twice...became the program's all-time stolen base leader in on Saturday against Sarah Lawrence...went 4-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBI in the game with SLC.

Pitcher of the Week

Christen Hansen, Mount Saint Mary
Senior, RHP, Cypress, Calif

Did not allow an earned run in picking up a win and a save this past week...her eighth win on the season came against St. Elizabeth when she scattered four hits over 6.2 innings, during which she struck out seven...her second save of the season came against SJU-LI and included 2.2 innings of shutout ball...in neither game did she allow a walk.

Rookie of the Week

Bella Hurtado, St. Joseph’s-Brooklyn
Freshman, IF, San Diego, Calif

Starting in four games this past week, she batted .556 (5-for-9) with a .714 on-base percentage and a .556 slugging percentage...also posted five runs scored, two RBI, and four walks...went 4-for-5 with five runs scored and a RBI in the series with Purchase.

Honor Roll

Ashleigh Hartwig of Saint Joseph’s-Brooklyn, who ranks second in the country in on-base percentage and fifth in batting, hit .500 (10-for-20) with six RBI, four runs scored, and four doubles, which included two three-hit efforts against Old Westbury and Purchase...SJU-LI’s Olivia Verderosa tossed a perfect game and struck out eight batters in 17-0 win over Sarah Lawrence on Saturday...Farmingdale’s Lyndsey Shaw hit .462 with three extra-base hits (2 doubles, 1 triple) for a .769 slugging percentage, scored four runs, and registered three-consecutive multi-hit games to close the week...Abigail Laurendeau of Mount Saint Vincent was 8-for-16 on the week with four runs and three RBI...Manhattanville’s Giovanna Liggett hit .625 across a pair of games, driving in two runs while scoring three of her own...Kimberly Medina-Ocasio pitched a complete game win over Sarah Lawrence, allowing one run on three hits while striking out seven in seven innings..Manhattanville’s Charli Shinstine earned her conference-leading 11th win on Saturday against Farmingdale, throwing a complete game and allowing one run on five hits to go with nine strikeouts...St. Joseph’s-Brooklyn’s Jessica Meachem went 2-0 on the week, tossing two complete-game victories, one a six-strikeout, five-inning shutout of Old Westbury and the other a six-strikeout, seven-inning triumph over Purchase...Gianna Dilillo of Old Westbury earned three conference wins in four games on the week, pitching three complete games, totaling six strikeouts and 1.00 ERA for the week...Farmingdale’s Ava Shorr went 2-0 in a pair of complete-game Skyline efforts to improve to 10-1 on the season…she also hit .364 on the weekend, including going 3-for-6 effort with one run scored and five RBI in her two starts on the mound.
