NEW YORK | The Skyline Conference announced its 10 Scholar-Athletes of the Year from this past spring season on Wednesday morning.
Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award is presented in each sport to the first-team All-Conference performer who carries the highest grade point average (minimum 3.30) for the semester in which the student-athlete competes.
Baseball
Anthony Raucci, Grad Student, St. Joseph's-Long Island
Raucci became the Golden Eagles' all-time hits leader in May (154), and hit .367 with 17 RBIs, six doubles, a team-leading three triples, and seven stolen bases. The shortstop's 29 hits were the top mark for head coach Richard Garrett's side.
Golf
Reid Robertson, Junior, Manhattanville
Robertson, the medalist at the September 2019 conference championship, followed up this spring with a fifth-place showing over the 36-hole Skyline Championship.
Men's Lacrosse
John McMahon, Senior, Farmingdale State
McMahon, the 2019 Men's Lacrosse Scholar-Athlete of the Year, led the conference in ground balls and recorded 26 points on 20 goals and six assists.
Women's Lacrosse
Lara Keenan, Junior, Manhattanville
Keenan fired home a team-high-tying 19 goals this spring for the Valiants, who advanced to the conference semifinals.
Softball
Jenna DeFina, Junior, St. Joseph's-Long Island
DeFina led Golden Eagles in batting average (.537 -- ranked No. 11 nationally), at-bats (80), runs (29), hits (43), stolen bases (16), on-base percentage (.580), and slugging percentage (.613).
Men's Tennis
James Hourihan, Freshman, Manhattanville
The 2021 Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year, Hourihan went 6-1 in his freshman campaign at the Valiants' top-flight singles position.
Women's Tennis
Rosa Lettieri, Sophomore, Farmingdale State
Lettieri was named the Most Outstanding Player of the 2020-21 Skyline Conference Championship after helping the third-seeded Rams to a conference title.
Men's Outdoor Track and Field
Will Bucher, Sophomore, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy
Bucher won the steeplechase event at the Skyline Championship Meet (10:44.59), while running the second leg on the Mariners' victorious 4x400m relay team (3:35.47) that clinched their side's Skyline championship meet in April.
Women's Outdoor Track and Field
Madison Reddick, Junior, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy
Reddick was the Skyline's Field Athlete of the Year at the Conference Championship in April, winning the triple jump (10.00m) and javelin (36.01m) while taking second in the long jump (4.62m), 200m (29.58) and 100m (15.01) dashes.
Men's Volleyball
Nate Davis, Freshman, Sarah Lawrence
Davis led the Gryphons with 73 kills (No. 3 in Skyline), 262 total attacks (12.21/set - top mark in Division III), 3.48 kills per set, four blocks, and 42 digs.
