Sigitas Rudokas Of Old Westbury Honored By The American Swimming Coaches Association

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The SUNY College at Old Westbury men's and women's swimming coach Sigitas Rudokas has been recognized by the American Swimming Coaches Association with a 2011 Awards of Excellence.

Rudokas, who is in his 10th year as Old Westbury's head swimming coach, was one of 243 recipients of the ASCA's Certificate of Excellence in 2011. 

This award was given to Coach Rudokas after he led Old Westbury swimmer Michael Gavrilchin to a eighth place finish in the men's 100 butterfly race at the NCAA Championships, which were held at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center on the campus of the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Each year, the American Swimming Coaches Association (ASCA) recognizes those coaches who coach a swimmer to a top-8 finish at one of several USA national-level championships. This recognition is the Award of Excellence. Meets used for this year's list were the: 2011 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships (Division I, II & III), 2011 NAIA Swimming & Diving Championships, 2011 USA Open Water 5K and 10K Championships, 2011 USA National Championships, and 2011 USA Winter National Championships.
