Swimmer of the Week

Rowan Hayes, Maritime

Hayes delivered a dominant week across both breaststroke and freestyle events, collecting four event victories while propelling the Privateers to strong team results. In Tuesday’s dual-meet win over William Paterson, Hayes swept all three of his individual races—100 breast (58.76), 200 breast (2:15.51), and 200 IM (2:04.00)—while also contributing to a win in the 200 medley relay. He continued his high-level performance on Friday in a Skyline quad meet, earning the overall victory in the 200 breaststroke (2:12.33) and finishing second in the 50 free (22.32).

Diver of the Week
 
Carter Kov, Merchant Marine
Freshman; Goodyear, Ariz./BASIS Goodyear


Kov posted a breakout performance on Friday, hitting NCAA qualifying marks on both the one-meter and three-meter boards in USMMA’s home Skyline quad meet. Kov scored 306.68 on the 1M and 314.93 on the 3M, winning both events convincingly and helping the Mariners secure victories over St. Joseph’s-Long Island, Mount Saint Mary, and SUNY Maritime.

Rookie of the Week
 
Keanne Hernandez, Merchant Marine
Freshman; Deer Park, N.Y. /St. Anthony’s


Hernandez delivered a stellar all-around performance in Friday’s Skyline quad meet, winning three events. Individually, Hernandez touched first in the 100 fly (52.27), and he contributed key legs on two victorious relays—the 400 free relay (3:16.71) and the 200 medley relay (1:37.19). He also added a strong third-place finish in the 50 free (22.44).

Honorable Mention
Max Fedorenko, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy - Fedorenko had a standout week for USMMA, recording three first-place finishes and one runner-up showing in Friday’s Skyline quad meet. He swept both sprint freestyle races—50 free (21.77) and 100 free (47.40)—and added a second-place finish in the 100 fly (55.01). Fedorenko also led off the Mariners’ winning 200 medley relay (1:37.19)
Patrick Rau, Sarah Lawrence - Rau won the 1000 freestyle by over 30 seconds, delivering one of the most commanding distance swims of the week. He added second-place finishes in both the 100 butterfly and 100 breaststroke
