PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – It’s a historic week for St. Joseph’s University–Long Island soccer, as both the men’s and women’s programs captured Skyline Conference Championships and earned automatic berths into the 2025 NCAA Division III Soccer Tournaments. The Golden Eagles’ postseason sweep marks one of the most successful fall campaigns in program history, sending both teams to the national stage in the same year for the first time.
The SJLI men’s team secured its first Skyline Conference Championship since 2012 with a gritty 2–1 victory over top-seeded Mount Saint Vincent on November 8 in Riverdale, N.Y. Behind early strikes from Jack Pulisic and a composed defensive stand anchored by Aidan Bayer and goalkeeper Dean Burchard, the Golden Eagles battled through a physical matchup to reclaim conference supremacy.
With the Skyline crown came an automatic bid to the 2025 NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer Championship, where St. Joseph’s (13-4-1) will open tournament play against the University of Scranton (12-0-6) in the first round. The Golden Eagles will travel to Scranton, Pa., on Saturday, November 15.
Just hours after the men lifted their trophy, the SJLI women’s soccer team delivered a dramatic finish of its own, capturing the Skyline Conference title with a 2–1 double-overtime victory at top-seeded Mount Saint Vincent. Savannah Modica netted the golden goal in the 108th minute, while senior defender Erica Urbancik earned Most Outstanding Player honors for her composure and leadership throughout the match.
The victory capped a dominant 13-3-3 season for the Golden Eagles and punched their ticket to the 2025 NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer Championship, where they will square off against Pomona-Pitzer (14-1-3) in the first round on Saturday, November 15, in Claremont, Calif.
