PURCHASE, N.Y. I The preseason No. 1s followed through on the prognostication today in the 2024 Skyline Conference Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championships.

U.S. Merchant Marine Academy swam to its seventh consecutive conference crown Sunday at Purchase College, sweeping the men's and women's championships.

The Mariners once again powered through the two-day event, setting nine league records (see link above) on the weekend along the way. Kings Point has now secured dual titles in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2022, 2023 and this winter since rejoining the Skyline (there was no champion crowned in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic). The men's team (below) has also won 25 straight championships.

USMMA now holds 29 of the 38 conference championship records for swimming and diving.

To boot, USMMA nearly swept the individual honors – including several repeat honors – after topping the field on the men's side, scoring 1,074 points ahead of runner-up Maritime College, and netting 674 points to best Mount Saint Mary (334) on the women's side (championship photo below). St. Joseph's-Long Island took third on the women's side, while host Purchase clinched third on the men's side. Sarah Lawrence, Purchase and Maritime rounded out the scoring on the men's side. MSMC and SLC rounded out the scoring on the men's side.

In voting conducted by his peers, USMMA bench boss Sean Tedesco repeats as Men's Coach of the Year, and this winter also took home the women's honor following a dominant regular-season and postseason. USMMA's Annie Hood and Layne Andersen also repeat as Women's Swimmer of the Year and Women's Diver of the Year, respectively. The Women's Rookie of the Year goes to St. Joseph's-Long Island's AvaGrace Monti, who was impressive throughout the season, winning multiple weekly honors.

The men's awards (like the women's awards, based on scoring in the championship) saw the top rookie go to USMMA's Ryan Lester and the top diver be split between Mariner teammates Thomas Cable and Brendan Griffiths. The Men's Swimmer of the Year was also presented as a co-honor with last year's winner Teague Mayer repeating but sharing the award with teammate Daniel Scherrer this time around. Mayer won both the top swimmer and rookie in 2023, and his equally impressive performance in 2024 spearheaded another title for the USMMA men this winter.

Following the awards ceremony, USMMA celebrated by tossing Tedesco in the pool – the championship swimming equivalent of the "Gatorade shower."

First and second team All-Skyline honors are presented to the first and second-place winners in each event (see link above).

Prior to the championship, the conference, which featured new signage and championship awards this winter, held a Senior Walkout, honoring each of the seniors for the six programs. Competing in their final conference championship were USMMA's Oliver Austin, Ethan Downing, Matthew DunLany, Devin Dyer, Heath Lewis, James Todd, Jonathan Wargo, Ehtan Williams and Scherrer on the men's side, and Mariner women Andersen, Hood, Isabelle Auger, Ellary Boyd, Emmy Higgins, Camden Martin, Deirdre McCafferty, Katie McGillicuddy; Maritime's A.J. Marrone; MSMC's Jackson Lerner, Tyler Williams, Kitty Masayda and Emily Gursky; SLC's Genevieve Chiappetta; SJ-LI's Shannon Dodenhoff; and Purchase's Gabriel Schmid-Doyle and Matthias Schmidt.
