Mele (above) nearly had a triple-double in the five-set loss to CCNY, finishing with 15 kills, 19 digs and a career-high eight service aces … She served four consecutive aces during a 6-0 run in the first set that saw the Privateers trim an eight-point deficit to two … Prior to that matchup, she hit .424 in a 3-0 victory at Lehman, smashing 16 kills, while committing just two errors in 33 attempts ... She also tallied five aces in that match and averaged 2.7 kills, 2.7 digs and 0.9 aces per set across four matches on the week on her way to her first conference player of the week nod this fall.

Ballagas (above) totaled 61 digs and 14 assists in a three-match week … She had 11 digs and five assists with a pair of aces in a three-set sweep of Morrisville ... Ballagas followed that with a season-high 35 digs and six assists in the team’s loss to Hunter … She collected another 15 digs and three assists in Manhattanville’s finale against WestConn.
Rookie of the Week
Samantha Andriola, Manhattanville
Sophomore, Setter; Garden City South, N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy
Andriola (below) totaled 25 kills and 15 digs in three matches for the Valiants … She notched nine kills with a pair of digs in the team’s victory over Morrisville and then collected her first career double-double to open up the Valiants’ tri-match with 11 kills and 11 digs against Hunter … She added five more kills and two final digs against WestConn.
