THROGGS NECK, N.Y. - For the third straight season, Maritime has come away with the Skyline Conference men’s lacrosse title and the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
On a cold, wet day, the Privateers’ offense was red hot in posting a 22-13 win over Farmingdale. Trailing 2-0 early in the game, Maritime scored nine straight first quarter goals, led by Parker Reilly and Jack Killcommons who netted three apiece, to take a 9-2 lead after 15 minutes. They never looked back.
Killcommons ended the game with six goals and an assist while Reilly had four goals and three assists. Charles Longo added a pair of goals and assists and Steven Pinto netted two goals as the Privateers enter the NCAA Tournament with a 12-7 record.
For his defensive effort which resuted in five ground balls as well as a goal and assist, Kyle Orton was named the championhip's Most Outstanding Player.
