NEW YORK | The eight Skyline Conference head men's lacrosse coaches have cast their ballots for the 2021 edition of the all-conference team, and Farmingdale State College senior attack Terrence Haggerty and St. Joseph's College-Long Island junior netminder Andrew Brust have been selected as the conference's Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year, respectively.
SUNY Maritime College close defender Joe Kiernan garnered Rookie of the Year kudos, while his coach, third-year Privateers mentor Justin Manjares was tabbed as Coach of the Year in voting by his peers.
Haggerty, a preseason honorable mention All-America choice, led the Skyline with 43 goals and 58 points for the Rams, who advanced to the conference's championship final. He also ranked second in the conference with 15 assists, and his 4.78 goals per game average ranks No. 8 through conference championship play across Division III.
Brust backstopped the Golden Eagles into the semifinal round of the conference tourney, as the two-time Defensive Player of the Week selection led the Skyline in both goals against average (6.37) and save percentage (.660). The save percentage total ranks No. 4 nationally, while his goals against average checks in at No. 8.
Kiernan is the primary close defender on the championship Privateers team that enters the 2021 NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship having given up 8.25 goals per outing. His team-best 14 caused turnovers are tied for the fifth-best mark in the Skyline entering NCAA play.
Manjares, who won the award in 2019 after guiding the Privateers to a conference title, repeated the feat this past weekend as his Maritime side successfully defended its title. The Dix Hills, N.Y., native enters NCAA championship play with a career record of 26-6 (.813).
