ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - Bard College Director of Athletics Kristen Hall has announced that Sarah Lombard has been appointed as head coach of the Raptor women's basketball program. Lombard comes to Bard after serving as assistant coach at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute for the past two seasons.
Last year, Lombard helped guide Rensselaer to the Liberty League Tournament Title as the squad went 17-11 and 10-4 in conference play. The Engineers earned a berth in the NCAA Tournament for just the second time in school history.
In 2008-09, Lombard assisted the team to an 18-7 record. RPI posted a 10-4 mark in the Liberty League.
A native of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Lombard was a four-year standout at Oswego State, leading the team to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances in 2004-05 and 2005-06. She finished her collegiate career ranked seventh in school history with 1,098 points. Playing in 105 games, Lombard had 726 career rebounds with 123 assists, 114 blocks and 154 steals.
A three-time All-SUNYAC selection, Lombard was the Lakers leading scorer as a freshman and sophomore, guiding the program to consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances.
Lombard, who has coached at various basketball clinics and camps throughout the Capital Region, graduated from SUNY Oswego in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Health & Promotional Wellness Management.
