Maritime's Forgione Signs Professional Contract

THROGGS NECK, N.Y. I Former Maritime College baseball All-American Freddy Forgione has signed a professional contract with the Great Falls Voyagers of the Pioneer League.  The 2024 Skyline Conference Player of the Year becomes the first player in program history to sign with a professional team.

"I'm incredibly happy for Freddy and his family, as this dream has been years in the making," Privateers Head Coach Charlie Barbieri said.  "We knew he was a professional hitter the minute he stepped on campus and truly believed he'd play at the next level.  All he needed was an opportunity, and we're grateful that the Voyagers have given him exactly that."

As a senior in 2024, Forgione was named First Team All-American by D3baseball.com after finishing second nationally with a single-season program-record 21 home runs.  A three-time First Team All-Skyline honoree, he's Maritime's all-time leader in home runs (44), RBIs (154), hits (180), runs scored (154) and doubles (52).  Forgione played a graduate year at Binghamton University in 2025 and crushed a team-high 15 home runs, including one against Oklahoma State in the NCAA Tournament.
