FSC Picks Up Record-10th Skyline Conference Title, Sweeps Through Championship

PURCHASE, N.Y. | Freshman pitcher Madison DeMaio was named the Most Outstanding Player of the 2025 Skyline Conference Championship on Sunday afternoon, as she tossed a complete-game six-hitter to lead second-seeded Farmingdale State College (29-14) to its Skyline-record 10th title, with a 7-3 victory over top-seeded Manhattanville University (31-11) in the championship final.

The title is FSC's third in the last five seasons, and head coach Liz Pennino's Rams have now secured automatic qualification into the 2025 NCAA Division III Softball Championship. Regional play will be contested in the 64-team field Thursday through Saturday (May 15-17), with the field and bracket being announced via an online selection show on ncaa.com on Monday (May 12) at 11 a.m.

DeMaio earned complete-game wins in all three of Farmingdale State's games in the championship, as the 2025 Skyline Pitcher and Rookie of the Year yielded just 17 hits and four earned runs along the way – including one earned run to go with two strikeouts on Sunday.

Manhattanville batted as the road team in the title game, and plated two runs in the first inning and another one frame later to stake its claim to a 3-0 advantage.

From there, FSC scored seven unanswered runs to capture the 2025 crown, notching its ninth come-from-behind victory of the season in the process.

After pulling one run back in the bottom of the third inning on senior first-team All-Skyline shortstop Angelina Capuano's RBI single to center field, the Rams scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth to take the lead for good. DeMaio's double to left field scored senior Anna Gibbons to start the rally, before junior Lauren Varagnolo scored the tying run on a bases-loaded walk by first-team all-conference center fielder Ashley Toro. Sophomore all-conference third baseman Bailey Hammock provided the go-ahead runs on a two-run single to left field, bringing home freshman outfielder Nikole Galgano with her second run of the day, along with DeMaio. Toro then rounded out the fourth-inning scoring on Capuano's sacrifice fly to left field, pushing the Farmingdale State edge to 6-3.

Capuano closed out the scoring when she came home in the sixth inning on an error in the middle of the Manhattanville infield.

Hammock and Capuano each drove in two runs on the day, while junior all-conference designated player Samantha Stolfi went 2 for 4 at the dish to finish the weekend 5-for-11 (.455) – including Thursday's walk-off single to start championship play versus Old Westbury. Galgano finished the afternoon 2-for-3 with two runs scored and her Skyline-best 25th stolen base of the season.
