Sanguedolce (above) finished the week hitting .471, going 8 for 17 at the plate ... The junior posted an. 882 slugging percentage with a .545 on-base percentage and totaled eight RBI and six runs scored for St. Joseph’s-Long Island … In the conference-clinching win over Mount Saint Vincent, he went 5 for 6 with two home runs, three runs scored, and a career-high six RBI … This is his first Skyline Player of the Week award this season as the top-seeded Golden Eagles open the 2023 Skyline Baseball Championship as the No. 1 seed. 
 
Nick Papageorge, Old Westbury

Papageorge hit .529 through six games for Old Westbury, leading the Panthers to a 5-1 week … He had nine hits with 10 RBI, including two doubles and two home runs on his way to his first Skyline Player of the Week nod this season … He smashed two three-run home runs in each game of the doubleheader against Farmingdale, lifting Old Westbury to a pair of conference wins … In the process, Papageorge helped the Panthers clinch a playoff berth.

Justin Doskoez, Purchase

Doskoez (above) earned a pair of wins in two relief appearances on his way to his first Skyline Pitcher of the Week honor … The first came after he tossed 3 1/3 innings, striking out three and allowing no runs on six hits against Manhattanville … Four days later, he came in during the second inning of a must-win game and pitched 7 1/3 innings at Farmingdale, helping to lead the Panthers to a win that clinched the team's first playoff birth since 2014 … During the game, Doskoez allowed four runs (three earned) on seven hits, while striking out two.
 
Rookie of the Week

Patrick Reyes, Purchase

Reyes (below) went 17 for 33 with 14 RBI, four doubles, one home run, 10 runs, two walks and nine stolen bases on 10 attempts over eight games … Purchase went 5-3 in those games to clinch a playoff berth … This is the first Skyline Rookie of the Week award for Reyes.

Purchase senior pitcher/shortstop Jemal Betances made four relief appearances over eight games recording three saves and one win over 3 2/3 innings of work; At the plate, he tallied five hits, four RBI, five runs, two walks and a stolen base over eight starts … U.S. Merchant Marine Academy sophomore first baseman Travis Leatherwood batted a team-best .455 (10 for 22) with four doubles and four RBI in six games; he slugged .636 and hit safely in all six games, including three multi-hit efforts … St. Joseph’s-Brooklyn senior third baseman Chris Leary reached the 100-hit plateau on a two-RBI double against Farmingdale State; adding a hit and RBI against Mount Saint Vincent … Manhattanville grad student designated hitter/first baseman Tyler Mandel batted .474 in the final week of the season, driving in three runs on nine hits and sporting a .632 slugging percentage … Maritime junior first baseman Rob Copozzi hit four home runs, scored 10 runs and totaled 12 RBI in Maritime's 5-1 week … Old Westbury grad student pitcher Justin Aviles earned two wins for Old Westbury, hurling a complete-game victory over Manhattanville, where he allowed four hits through seven innings … St. Joseph’s-Long Island sophomore pitcher Jack Kelly went 1-0, shutting out USMMA through the first seven innings on his way to a career-best seven strikeouts … U.S. Merchant Marine Academy sophomore pitcher Michael Monkevich went 1-0 with a 4.09 ERA in 11.0 innings, spanning two starts; he allowed one hit in 6.0 scoreless innings as part of a combined one-hit shutout in a mercy-shortened 12-0 victory over Mount Saint Mary … Manhattanville junior pitcher Jay Lockwood pitched 8.2 innings in relief to close out the year with a 2.31 ERA; he was called upon for five innings out of the pen at USMMA, holding the Mariners scoreless on six hits with six strikeouts … Maritime freshman pitcher Joseph Sorge made his first career start in the second game of the doubleheader against Yeshiva, collecting his first collegiate win after allowing three hits in six shutout innings; he tallied a career-high nine strikeouts while issuing one walk … Mount Saint Mary sophomore pitcher Liam Horan picked up his first win of the season in the second game of a doubleheader at St. Joseph's-Brooklyn, where he worked 7.0 innings against the Bears, striking out four as the Mount earned a conference sweep … Old Westbury freshman pitcher John Moeller pitched his second consecutive complete game for the win against St. Joseph's-Brooklyn, allowing two runs and striking out three … U.S. Merchant Marine Academy freshman outfielder Charles Cahalan batted .409 (9 for 22) with one double, three RBI and six runs scored, totaling three multi-hit games on the week … St. Joseph’s-Brooklyn outfielder Carmine Carbone batted .474 in the Bears’ busy nine-game week; he hit a pair of doubles, drove in, and scored as many runs in the Bears’ 8-6 win over Farmingdale State before going 4 of 4 with a double and a two-run home run against Mount Saint Mary in the season finale … Maritime freshman infielder Randy Ventura smacked four doubles, stole four bases, scored four times and drove in five runs, as Maritime went 5-1 against Purchase, Farmingdale and Yeshiva.
