Baseball All-Conference Team Announced

NEW YORK | A slugger and a two-way star headline the latest edition of the best of the best from the baseball diamond in the Skyline Conference.

The conference's 11 head baseball coaches have voted on this season's all-conference team, and Maritime's Matt Milone and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy's Tyler Reistetter have been selected as Co-Player of the Year.

Mount Saint Vincent right-hander Andrew Geiger has been tabbed as Pitcher of the Year, while Purchase freshman Liam Daly garnered Rookie of the Year honors. St. Joseph's-Long Island first-year mentor Tom Caputo was selected as Coach of the Year in voting by his peers.

Milone (below) led the Privateers to the second seed in the regular season and guided Maritime to the championship series against top-seeded St. Joseph's-LI. The power hitter hit for Maritime's first-ever cycle at FDU-Florham in April and set program records for home runs (13) and triples (4) during the regular season. He led the league in home runs and RBI, and finished second in doubles, slugging percentage and OPS. Milone was named Skyline Player of the Week on May 2.

Reistetter (below), a two-way player, batted .370 with team-highs in doubles (14), triples (7), home runs (7), total bases (99), slugging (.733), innings pitched (62.2), strikeouts (62) and complete games (5). He added 38 RBI, 37 runs and 13 stolen bases, while going 5-3 with a 4.16 ERA. In conference play, he is ranked first in strikeouts on the mound and in the top five in triples and doubles offensively. He batted .423 and went 3-2 with a 3.46 ERA in Skyline play as USMMA advanced to the postseason.

Fellow ace Geiger (below) posted a 1.89 ERA for the Dolphins with four complete games, including one shutout during the regular season. The hard-throwing righty, who was named Pitcher of the Week twice during the spring, took Mount Saint Vincent to the playoffs, striking out 77 batters over 62 innings.

Daly (below) had a breakout freshman campaign, powering the Panther offense from day one as Purchase reached the postseason for the first time since 2014. Among all Skyline players, he ranked third in batting average (.421), fourth in hits (52), fifth in runs (42), first in triples (8), fifth in slugging percentage (.706) and third in stolen bases (26). He also ranked 10th in doubles, 11th in OPS, 27th in RBIs and struck out just 12 times, earning two Rookie of the Week nods and three Honor Roll mentions.

Caputo replaced longtime skipper Richard Garrett, who announced his retirement after nine years at the helm coming into the season. Caputo picked up right where he left off, guiding the Golden Eagles to back-to-back championships and their greatest win total in program history.

Caputo (below) worked under Garrett as an assistant coach since 2019 and helped lead the team to their fifth Skyline crown in 2022. This season, St. Joseph's-LI claimed its second straight regular-season and championship titles, going 30-9 entering NCAA regional play at Cortland this weekend. The 30-win mark set a program record for the Golden Eagles.

The Valley Stream, N.Y. native earned his bachelor's degree from Hofstra, where he played Division I baseball. He served as captain of the Flying Dutchmen and earned All-Conference honors for his performances.
