Brooklyn, NY I Following an outstanding offensive campaign that the Bears ranked among the nation's best all season, the St. Joseph's University, NY (Brooklyn) softball team has been crowned the 2022 NCAA Division III statistical champion in batting average, runs per game, and doubles per game. Additionally, Ashleigh Hartwig was the individual statistical champion in on-base percentage.
As a team, the Bears compiled a .393 batting average and .485 on-base percentage, knocking program single-season records of 407 hits, 105 doubles, and 21 home runs. The Bears averaged 9.08 runs per game to finish as the top scoring team in the nation. SJBK also placed in the top 10 finishing third in slugging percentage (.578), sixth in walks (158), and eighth in hit by pitch (40).
After rewriting the Bears record book in several single-season and career categories and capturing her third Skyline Player of the Year honor, Hartwig was crowned the individual champion in on-base percentage with a .619 average. She also finished third in batting with her single-season record-tying .556 average and was the seventh toughest to strikeout in the nation with just one strikeout in 108 at bats.
