Once again had the go-ahead hit (his third in two weekends) for the Mariners in Game Two of their doubleheader sweep of Manhattanville on Sunday...led USMMA with a .611 batting average and nine RBI on the week, going 11-for-18 with four doubles and three runs scored over five games...he walked three times and was hit twice to post a .696 on-base percentage...he also stole three bases in three tries.

Pitcher of the Week

Niko Concha, Maritime
Senior, RHP, Ballston Spa, N.Y./Saratoga Springs
Earns his third Pitcher of the Week citation of the season...pitched his third shutout of the season on Sunday against Purchase...scattered eight hits and struck out three while not walking a batter...induced two inning-ending double plays, including one with the bases loaded in the sixth...finished the regular season with a 7-0 record and 1.79 ERA.

Rookie of the Week

Derek Vanase, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy
Freshman, OF, Camarillo, Calif./Adolfo Camarillo
Hit .563 (9-for-16, two 2Bs, one 3B) with three RBI and seven runs scored, while also stealing four bases in four attempts over five games last week...had an .813 slugging percentage to go along with .632 on-base percentage.


Honor Roll

Anthony Hernandez of St. Joseph’s-Brooklyn launched his first two home runs of the season, highlighting a .524 week at the plate where he also slugged .905...freshman teammate Mike Medina, Jr.,  batted .474 with a .632 slugging and hit successfully in all five games played...Yeshiva’s Max Leibowitz went 2-for-4, including an RBI single, and had four stolen bases plus a run scored against St. Joseph’s-Brooklyn...Maritime’s Travis Zurita finished a triple short of the cycle against Purchase on Sunday, going 4-for-4 with two doubles, a homer, three runs scored, and three RBI..Phil Krpata of St. Joseph’s-Long Island hit .647 (11-for-17) across five games this past week...Farmingdale’s Bobby Pollock hit a team-best .500 on the week with two homers, a 1.708 OPS and 1.083 slugging pct. over four games...Kevin Czeczotka of SJU-LI scattered three hits and allowing just one unearned run while striking out five against Purchase...Farmingdale’s Stephen Clancy tossed an eight-inning complete-game four-hitter with two walks, a .143 average against and 10 strikeouts in picking up his conference-best eighth win of the season in extra innings Saturday at USMMA...Mount Saint Mary’s Brian Gregory threw a complete game shutout against Yeshiva on Sunday, allowing five hits with no walks and seven strikeouts...Maritime’s Matthew Demme tossed a seven-inning complete game against Purchase, giving up two runs on six hits while striking out four and not issuing a walk...Anthony Caputo of Manhattanville hit his first two home runs on Sunday as part of a .333 week at the plate, driving in six runs and scoring three in the doubleheader against USMMA...Ryan Novakowski picked up a win and two saves in four appearances, pitching to a 0.00 ERA over 7.0 innings pitched with eight strikeouts.
