BRISTOL, RI - 2013 Skyline champion Katherine Henri of Purchase finished third overall at the ECAC Championships, while men's champion Brian Wersan of St. Joseph's-L.I. placed fifth overall on the men's side.
"A well-executed race for Katherine," said Purchase head coach Declan Foley. "She finished in a personal-best 6K time of 22:46, just behind Catie Skinner and Emily Attwood (22:30, 22:40) of nationally ranked Middlebury College.
"The race went through the first mile in 6:05, with Henri sitting in fourth place, a steady stream of runners in the mix," he described. "As the race exited the woods for the first time, the lead group began to break away, with the top four hitting two miles in just over 12 minutes. Coming up on three miles Skinner, Attwood, and Henri exited the woods for the final time and would finish 1-2-3."
Wersan, who won the 2013 Skyline individual crown on Oct. 27 after finishing runner-up in 2012, posted a time of 26:07.04 on the 8K course. Cole Townsend of Williams won the ECAC Men's Championship with a time of 25:43.08.
