FARMINGDALE, N.Y. | Junior attack Emily Sohm (above) scored a career-best eight points on six goals and two assists, as second-seeded Farmingdale State defeated No. 3-seed Maritime, 14-7, in the semifinal round of the 2025 Skyline Conference Women's Lacrosse Championship on Thursday afternoon.
Update: The Rams will next play in the Skyline Conference Championship Final on Saturday at top-seeded Merchant Marine, with opening draw slated for noon. The game is a cashless ticketed event, and fans are encouraged to purchase tickets
at this link ahead of time to avoid delays entering Brooks Stadium.
In a low-scoring first quarter, FSC (9-8) registered the opening two goals before the Privateers (10-7) cut their deficit in half. Sophomore attack Carly Livingston tallied a free-position score, while Sohm produced a goal off the feed from sophomore Olivia Cassese.
Farmingdale State opened the second quarter with back-to-back scores by Sohm and senior attack Jules Loughran to take a 4-1 advantage. Following a goal by Maritime, Sohm registered three of the next four goals to give FSC a 7-3 lead.
The Rams were ahead 7-4 and outscored Maritime, 7-1, in the third quarter to take a commanding 14-5 lead. Junior midfielder Molly Espey, Loughran (x3), sophomore attack Markella Moutafis, Livingston and Sohm each produced scores in the run.
Maritime scored the final three goals of the game as Farmingdale State earned the 14-7 semifinal victory.
Loughran finished with four goals, two assists, six draw control, two caused turnovers and three ground balls, while Livingston had two goals, one assist and one caused turnover. Loughran has 64 goals this season, and has moved into second place all-time for a single-season.
On defense, seniors Sarah Fava and Dominique Baldino finished with two caused turnovers apiece.
Junior goalkeeper Giavanna Stamatelo stopped 10-of-17 shots in the cage for Farmingdale State in the win.
