Offensive Player of the Week

Sydney Atherley, Sarah Lawrence
Sophomore, Defense; Salt Lake City, Utah/Olympus

8381

Atherley (above) scored three goals for the Gryphons, with two insurance goals against Purchase in the team's shutout win while also netting perhaps the team's most important goal thus far in 2024 … Atherley got in the box for a Cora Colvin free kick and found the back of the net against UMSV to score the eventual game-winning goal … The goal was scored in the 29th minute of a matchup that, following SLC's 1-0 win, saw the Gryphons leap the Dolphins in the Skyline standings.

Defensive Player of the Week

Faith Sammons, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy
Sophomore, Defense; Aubrey, Texas/Denton Calvary Academy

8375

Sammons (above), arguably the best defender on USMMA, helped lead the Mariners to two more conference shutouts with a 7-0 win at St. Joseph's-Brooklyn and a 0-0 draw at Farmingdale State to cap the week … USMMA has not allowed a single goal in Skyline Conference action thus far this season.

Rookie of the Week

Chloe Barker, Sarah Lawrence
Sophomore, Forward; Los Angeles, Calif./Marlborough

Barker (below) scored her first collegiate hat trick in SLC's 9-0 win over Purchase, netting the first two scores of the game before adding a third in the second half … Barker also registered three shots in SLC's 1-0 win over UMSV, providing key offense and pressuring the Dolphins' backline, which ultimately allowed the Gryphons to break through and score the eventual game-winning goal.

Honor Roll

Manhattanville senior forward Mia Castaneda tallied five points on the week, scoring twice and notching an assist; she scored once, notching the game-winning goal against Maritime and also played a role in both tallies of Manhattanville's 2-2 draw with Mount Saint Mary, scoring her seventh goal of the season and adding an assist … Farmingdale State junior keeper Hailey Stork recorded a pair of clean sheets in the Rams' 1-0-1 Skyline week, including an eight-save showing against fellow conference unbeaten USMMA; she also made one stop in her 2024 debut against Mount Saint Mary and over her four games across two seasons with Farmingdale State, Stork has posted a clean sheet in every outing for the green and white … Sarah Lawrence freshman keeper Bella Vaca added two more shutouts to her season resume, posting clean sheets against both Purchase and UMSV, respectively to help the Gryphons improve to 6-1-1 in Skyline play; the first-year keeper has now shut out three Skyline opponents in a row.
