Skyline Conference Baseball Awards Announced

Stephen Clancy - Farmingdale State

Mount Saint Vincent’s Jake Blinstrub has been named Player of the Year, Stephen Clancy of Farmingdale State has earned Pitcher of the Year honors, Maritime’s Frank Santeramo has been named Rookie of the Year, and Richard Garrett of St. Joseph’s-Long Island has garnered Coach of the Year honors in voting among the Skyline Conference coaches.

For the second year in a row, Blinstrub has been named the league’s Player of the Year. The senior outfielder from Peachtree, Ga., led the Skyline in conference batting (.529), OPS (1.332), and hits (37), was second in runs scored (28) and doubles (11), and third in slugging (.714).  This also marks his third first-team All-Conference citation.

A second-team All-Conference pick a year ago, Clancy posted a league-high-tying five conference wins in six decisions and an ERA of 2.23. Opponents hit only .200 against the senior from Mineola, N.Y., and his 52 strikeouts were second in the conference while his 19 strikeouts looking led the league.

Santeramo went 3-2 in league play with a 2.68 ERA on the mound. The freshman from Garden City, N.Y., struck out 26 batters and allowed a opponent batting average of .230.

In his ninth season at St. Joseph’s-Long Island, Garrett led the Golden Eagles to the Skyline Conference regular season title in posting a 15-5 ledger. He has led SJU-LI to 169 wins during his tenure as well as the 2018 Skyline Conference regular season and tournament titles.
