NEW YORK I The six-team field is now set for the 2022 Skyline Conference Women's Soccer Championship.
See championship bracket here.
No. 1 Sarah Lawrence headlines the field after making history to get there. Last night's final regular-season win against Yeshiva gives the Gryphons (10-0-1 Skyline) 31 points in the league standings – just enough to overtake No. 2 Mount St. Vincent for the regular-season championship and the top seed in the upcoming conference tournament that begins tomorrow.
The victory not only gives the women's soccer team the regular-season conference title, but it also marks the first time in Sarah Lawrence history that any athletic team has won a regular-season crown regardless of sport or gender.
The tournament gets underway in the First Round tomorrow. Seeding came down to the final day of the regular season, with a close fight for the top seed. SLC and CMSV earn the opening-round byes.
Following the top-two seeds, Farmingdale State is third, St. Joseph's-Long Island is fourth, Manhattanville fifth and Mount Saint Mary sixth, respectively.
The opening game of the tournament will feature No. 6 MSMC (6-3-2) at No. 3 FSC (8-1-2) Saturday at 1 PM. No. 5 Manhattanville (6-3-2) at No. 4 St. Joseph's-LI (7-3-1) will play later in the day at 3 PM.
The winner of 5/4 matchup will head to Bronxville on Wednesday, Nov. 2 to square off against Sarah Lawrence in the semifinals. The winner of 6/3 match will travel to Riverdale to face Mount Saint Vincent in the other semifinal Wednesday. Times to be announced.
The Final will take place on Saturday, Nov. 5 at the site of the highest-remaining seed. The winner of the championship will receive the Skyline's automatic bid to the 2022 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship.
