Old Westbury, NY - The SUNY College at Old Westbury has been honored with the 2014 New York Metro Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association (NYMISOA) Women's Soccer Sportsmanship Award.
Old Westbury will be presented with the sportsmanship award at the annual NYMISOA Awards Dinner, Nov. 17, at The Sterling in Bethpage, N.Y.
The sportsmanship award is voted on by game officials of the NYMISOA, who serve the metropolitan area. Old Westbury was selected with the award due to the sportsmanship displayed by its women's soccer student-athletes and coaches.
"I am so pleased the NYMISOA has recognized the positive game environment created by the SUNY College at Old Westbury women's soccer team under the direction of head coach Craig Newman and assistant coach Betty Bohringer," said Lenore Walsh, Old Westbury's director of athletics. "This is an award that speaks volumes and I am so proud of the program."
Old Westbury finished the season with a 9-8-1 overall record to make its fifth consecutive Skyline Conference Championship Tournament appearance.
