2010 Skyline Conference Winter/Spring Sport Scholar-Athlete List (PDF)
CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. - Skyline Conference commissioner Tracy King announced that 318 student-athletes in 10 winter and spring sports have qualified for the Skyline Conference Scholar-Athlete List for the 2010 Spring semester. Additionally, Rachel Van Horn, a women's volleyball student-athlete from Bard College, and John Dettori, a men's soccer student-athlete from St. Joseph's College, were selected as the conference's Female and Male Scholar-Athletes of the Year respectively.
The Female and Male Scholar-Athletes of the Year are the student-athletes in the conference with the highest GPAs among individuals earning First Team All-Skyline Conference honors. Van Horn and Dettori both earned First Team All-Skyline Conference honors while achieving a perfect 4.0 GPA during the season in which they competed.
Including the 358 student-athletes who earned Skyline Conference Scholar-Athlete honors during the fall semester, a total of 676 student-athletes earned a place on the Scholar-Athlete list during the 2009-10 academic year - the most that the conference has ever had. The total eclipses the previous record of 605 Scholar-Athletes set during the 2008-09 academic year.
In order to qualify for the conference's Scholar-Athlete List, student-athletes must achieve a grade point average of 3.30 or higher during the semester in which they compete.
Additionally, student-athletes from 10 different conference sports have been named Skyline Conference Scholar-Athletes of the Year in their respective spring sports. The Scholar-Athlete of the Year is the individual with the highest semester GPA among First Team All-Conference selections.
