Bard College to add Men's and Women's Varsity Lacrosse

Bard College Sports Information

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - The Bard College Department of Athletics has announced that it is adding men’s and women’s lacrosse to the college’s intercollegiate programs. The two sports will be introduced as club sports for 2009, followed by full varsity status in the spring of 2010.

The teams will compete in the Skyline Conference in 2010, with access to NCAA DIII Championships.  The addition of Bard will give the Skyline Conference seven teams in both men's and women's lacrosse, assuring the conference of automatic bids in both sports.

Kristen Hall, Director of Athletics commented, "The college has had lacrosse on its radar for several years. Our administration supports complimenting our sports sponsorship with one of the fastest growing intercollegiate programs in the country. Moving directly into Skyline competition will provide fine opportunities for our student-athletes."

The college is undergoing searches for two new head coaches with expected announcements later this spring.
