2005-06 Skyline Conference Swimming & Diving Championship Results

KINGS POINT, N.Y. - The United States Merchant Marine Academy continued its domination of Skyline Conference Swimming & Diving by capturing both the men's and women's titles on Saturday at O'Hara Pool.  The Kings Point men captured their seventh straight Skyline Conference title while the women earned their third straight conference championship.

On the women's side, Kings Point compiled 147 points.  Stevens Institute of Technology finished second with 110 followed by St. Joseph's (45), Mount Saint Mary (44), Mount Saint Vincent (21), Maritime (17) and Old Westbury (3).

Kings Point cruised on the men's side with 231 points.  Stevens finished second with 59, followed by Maritime (47), Mount Saint Mary (27) and Old Westbury (12).

A total of 10 meet records fell at the event - four on the women's side and six on the men's side.  Kings Point senior Andrew Dunlevy, who shared Swimmer of the Meet honors with teammate Jay Carpenter, broke three individual records.  Dunlevy captured the 100-yard freestyle (48.53), the 100-yard butterfly (54.65) and the 200-yard freestyle (1:46.98).

Kings Point freshman Scott Pearson, who won both the 50-yard backstroke (26.10) and 100-yard backstroke (55.83) in meet-record times, was selected as Rookie of the Meet.  Junior Mickey Hand, who captured both the one- and three-meter diving titles, earned Diver of the Meet honors on the men's side.

For the women, Kings Point sophomore Robyn Jimenez and Stevens freshman Emily Woo shared Swimmer of the Meet honors after winning three events each.  Jimenez won the 50-yard breaststroke with a meet-record time of 34.02.  She also captured the 100-yard individual medley (1:07.14) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:14.69).  Woo captured the 200-yard IM (2:19.24).  She also set meet records while winning the 100-yard butterfly (1:03.09) and the 50-yard butterfly (28.79).

Stevens freshman Nicole Ogrosso earned Rookie of the Meet honors.  Ogrosso, who compiled 17 points, captured the first individual event of the day - the 500-yard freestyle - with a time of 5:42.53.  Kings Point senior Marlaina Pippen earned Diver of the Meet honors on the women's side by capturing both the one- and three-meter boards.

Kings Point head coach Sean Tedesco was selected as Skyline Conference Men's Swimming Coach of the Year for the fifth straight year.  Stevens Institute of Technology head coach Cheryl Lee earned Coach of the Year honors on the women's side.  Kings Point diving coach Kevin Ryan was selected as Diving Coach of the Year.
