United States Merchant Marine Academy sophomore Jen Swanson had a strong all-around week as the Mariners opened their season with 12 games in Florida. Swanson batted .471 (16-for-34) with four runs scored and five runs batted in. After going hitless in the team’s season-opener, Swanson hit safely in each of the next 11 games. The shortstop/catcher also had a great week in the field where she committed only two errors in 88 chances and threw out seven of 10 runners attempting to steal.
