The United States Merchant Marine Academy opened conference play with a pair of doubleheader sweeps thanks in part to the strong play of freshman Jennifer Swanson. Swanson batted an even .500, going 6-for-12 with two doubles, a triple, five runs scored and five runs batted in. She was 4-for-5 with three extra-base hits and four RBI in a sweep of Mount Saint Vincent. Swanson had two hits and one RBI against Maritime.
