May Marie Hayes Award Rookie of the Week Week Of 2/14/2005 Sport Women's Basketball School Merchant Marine Year Position Hometown High School Freshman guard May Marie Hayes averaged 18.0 points and 7.0 rebounds while shooting 56.0 percent in two games for the United States Merchant Marine Academy last week. Hayes, who earns Rookie of the Week honors for the third time this season, scored a team-leading 18 points against rival Coast Guard. She then led the Mariners with 18 points and pulled down nine rebounds in a 62-59 win at Manhattanville.
