Junior outside hitter David Kahana had a strong opening week for Yeshiva University. Kahana, who returned to the Yeshiva lineup after sitting out last season, averaged 4.71 kills, 2.43 digs, 0.86 service aces and 0.71 blocks while hitting .323 in two matches. He opened the season with 12 kills, 10 digs, three aces and three blocks against Purchase. Kahana then led the Maccabees to a 3-1 win over York as he finished with 21 kills, seven digs and three aces. YU lost to York 3-0 a year ago.
