St. Joseph's-Long Island Lands First in Women's Cross Country Preseason Coaches Poll

NEW YORK | The 11 Skyline Conference women's cross country coaches have voted on their 2018 edition of the preseason coaches poll, and St. Joseph's College-Long Island is atop the tally after earning the 2017 conference title.

Head coach Jim Crowley's Golden Eagles, whose 48-point total at the 2017 Skyline Conference Women's Cross Country Championship was three points better than Farmingdale State College (87 voting points; four first-place votes), topped the 2018 poll with six first-place votes and 91 voting points. SJC returns sophomore Meagan Haviland, who was the 2017 Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year and placed fifth at the conference championship.

Mount Saint Mary College (75), Sarah Lawrence College (66) and SUNY Maritime College (64) rounded out the top-five in the tally, while sixth-ranked U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (57) picked up one first-place vote.

The 2018 Skyline Conference Cross Country Championships will take place on Thursday, Oct. 25, at Hudson Valley Sports Dome in Milton, N.Y. The 6,000-meter women's race will get underway at 1 p.m., with the men's 8,000-meter loop commencing at 2 p.m.
