NEW YORK | The 11 Skyline Conference men's cross country coaches have voted on their 2018 edition of the preseason coaches poll, and SUNY Maritime College has taken the top spot in the tally.
Head coach Bill Rueger's side, which captured a three-point triumph in the 2017 Skyline Conference Men's Cross Country Championship behind fourth- and fifth-place finishes from Sean Hobson and Curtis Bates, respectively, received 91 voting points and five of the 11 first-place votes.
2017 runner-up, United States Merchant Marine Academy (89 pts.) picked up four first-place votes, while St. Joseph's College-Long Island (85) garnered two.
Farmingdale State College (69) and Mount Saint Mary College (64) rounded out the top-five positions in the poll.
The 2018 Skyline Conference Cross Country Championships will take place on Thursday, Oct. 25, at Hudson Valley Sports Dome in Milton, N.Y. The 6,000-meter women's race will get underway at 1 p.m., with the men's 8,000-meter loop commencing at 2 p.m.
