NEW YORK | The 10 Skyline Conference baseball head coaches have voted on their 2018 edition of the all-conference team, and SUNY Old Westbury senior second baseman Jesse Russo has been selected as Player of the Year.

U.S. Merchant Marine Academy pitchers, junior Andrew Spinnenweber and freshman Joe Raab take home Pitcher and Rookie of the Year praise, respectively, while ninth-year Mount Saint Mary College mentor Steve Sosler was voted Coach of the Year by his peers.

Russo led the Skyline with 59 hits and 19 doubles, ranked third with 36 runs scored and fifth with a .386 batting average for the Panthers.

Spinnenweber led the conference with 99 strikeouts (including 12 in a Skyline Conference Championship appearance Sunday versus St. Joseph's-Long Island), tied with Raab for the Skyline-high with seven victories, while his 1.73 ERA ranked second among qualifying starting pitchers. Opposing hitters batted just .166 against the righty.

Raab registered a 1.93 ERA, while collecting 77 strikeouts in a conference-best 70 innings pitched. 

Sosler is in his ninth season at his alma mater, and led the Knights to a No. 3 seed in last week's Skyline Conference Baseball Championship. MSMC went 22-12-1 overall in 2018, including a 13-5 mark in Skyline action.
