Yeshiva Secures First-Ever Men's Basketball Conference Title with 87-81 Triumph at Purchase

Sophomore guard Simcha Halpert scored a game-best 25 points, including a 5-for-8 display from beyond the 3-point arc, as fourth-seeded Yeshiva University (18-10) took home its first Skyline Conference Men's Basketball Championship title with an 87-81 triumph at second-seeded Purchase College on Sunday afternoon.

With the victory, head coach Elliot Steinmetz's Maccabees have earned automatic qualification into next weekend's NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship. The 64-team field will be announced on NCAA.com at 12:30 p.m. Eastern on Monday (Feb. 26).

Justin Hod came off the bench to hit six trifectas in as many attempts in the first half for Yeshiva (16-for-30 as a team , Bar Alluf (16 pts.) and Tyler Hod (11) both scored in double figures. Gabriel Leifer filled the stat sheet with seven points, as many assists and 11 rebounds.

Purchase (18-9) got 19 points and three assists apiece from Deshawn Cann and Tarik Allicock (five blocked shots). Nikeem Deleon added a double-double with 14 points, 11 caroms and eight assists.
