Women's Tennis All-Conference Team Announced

Yeshiva's Shani Hava
NEW YORK| The Skyline Conference's seven women's tennis coaches have voted for their 2017 all-conference team, and 13 student-athletes are being recognized for their excellence on the court this fall.

Yeshiva University senior Shani Hava has been selected as the Skyline's Player of the Year, while Purchase College, SUNY's Raquelle DeCicco earned Rookie of the Year distinction. Ninth-year Yeshiva mentor Naomi Kaszovitz was tabbed as Coach of the Year in a vote by her peers.

Hava, the conference's 2014 Rookie of the Year and 2015 Player of the Year, went 7-0 this fall in both the No. 1 singles and doubles flights for the Maccabees, and was named the Most Outstanding Player of the 2017 Skyline Conference Women's Tennis Championship after helping YU to capture its first-ever title. In her illustrious career, Hava will enter the spring 2018 season with a 29-3 record in collegiate singles competition.

The Oct. 2 Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week, DeCicco was a stalwart in the middle of the Panthers' lineup, going 11-0 in singles competition -- including a 10-0 mark at the No. 4 flight. Her play helped head coach Susan Kaminsky's side to earn the No. 4 seed in this season's Skyline Conference Championship.

In her ninth season at her alma mater (1987, Law '90), Kaszovitz helped guide Yeshiva to school history in 2017. The 2014 Skyline Coach of the Year directed her team to the Macs' first-ever conference title on Sunday (Oct. 22), and their upcoming NCAA appearance in May will be the first by a YU women's program in school history.

Hava and DeCicco are joined on the all-conference first team by: Kayla Reidy of Farmingdale State College; Michelle Carnovale of Mount Saint Mary College; Denise Trerotola of St. Joseph's College-Brooklyn; Vicky Panicola of St. Joseph's College-Long Island; and Rebecca Packer of Yeshiva.

Second-team recipients include: Victoria Clay of Mount Saint Mary; Abigail Cuddy and Catherine Pasquale of Purchase; Nora Burnett and Lindsey Charrier of St. Joseph's-Long Island; and Jade Barnett-Irons of Sarah Lawrence College.
