2016 Baseball All-Conference Teams Announced

NEW YORK –
The Skyline Conference’s nine baseball head coaches have voted on their 2016 all-conference team, and St. Joseph’s College-Brooklyn right-handed pitcher/infielder Brian Luebcke (Astoria, N.Y.) has been tabbed as Player of the Year. Farmingdale State’s Matt Seelinger (Jr./Westbury, N.Y.) and Nick Attardi (Fr./Smithtown, N.Y.) have been named Pitcher and Rookie of the Year, respectively, while second-year Maritime College mentor Charlie Barbieri takes home Coach of the Year kudos.
 
Luebcke was a three-time Skyline Conference Player of the Week selection, and was once named Pitcher of the Week (April 18). He ranked No. 6 in the conference with a .389 batting average, and led the Skyline with 47 RBI. On the mound, his seven wins and 2.96 ERA tied him for first and ranked sixth on the conference leaderboard, respectively, while he fanned 61 batters.
 
Seelinger, a righty, limited the opposition to a .193 batting average against, and compiled a 4-1 record with a 2.72 ERA (No. 2 in conference) and 60 strikeouts (No. 3 in Skyline). Additionally, entering Tuesday’s (May 10) Skyline Conference championship round against St. Joseph’s College-Long Island, he’s allowed just 57 baserunners (39 H, 15 BB, 3 HBP) in 56.1 innings pitched.
 
Attardi received weekly honors from the Skyline on four occasions, including three Rookie of the Week citations and the April 25 Player of the Week award. He leads the list of qualifying hitters in the conference with a .430 batting average, is reaching base at a Skyline-best .522 clip (22 BB) and has scored 29 runs.
 
Barbieri guided the Privateers to the No. 3 seed in the 2016 Skyline Conference Championship, as his squad set Maritime’s single-season record with 22 victories. The 2001 Adelphi University graduate owns a 34-32 record (.515) in his two seasons at the helm of the Maritime program.
 
Attardi, Luebcke and Seelinger are joined on the all-conference first-team by: Brian McLaughlin, Stephen Semler and Paul Woodburn of Maritime; Steven Giustino of Mount Saint Vincent; and Michael Cardino, Jeremy Charles, Kevin Lao, Jesse Russo, Joey Walsh and Tommy Ziegen of Old Westbury.
 
Second-team selections include: A.J. Ammirati, Chris Deddo and Tyler Stuart of Maritime; Matt Cahill of Mount Saint Mary; Dean Sheridan of Old Westbury; Brendan LaPorte and Nick Kulbaba of Purchase; Michael Camerada and Francis Rapp of St. Joseph’s-Brooklyn; and Joseph Calabrese, Nick Girardi and Bob Keating of St. Joseph’s-Long Island, who will face off against Farmingdale State in the Skyline Conference championship round Tuesday at 4 p.m.
